Ann Curry

Ann Curry has worked as an journalist for over 45 years. Her reporting focuses on natural disasters as well as areas of war. Curry has covered wars across the world, including in Kosovo Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo. Ann Curry (born on November 19th, 1956 in the city of Agana) is an American TV anchor, reporter and journalist. She was most famous for being a correspondent of The Today Show, a daily morning newscast produced by the National Broadcasting Co. Curry was renowned for her work in reporting about natural disasters as well as war broken nations. Curry's mom is Japanese and her father is another American Naval Sailor. The couple met when her father was stationed in Japan in the aftermath of World War II. Her father was in the military, and she moved around often. They finally moved to Ashland Oregon where Curry attended the high school. She graduated in 1978 from in the University of Oregon with a bachelor's degree in journalism. The diversity of her experiences as well as her experiences throughout her childhood may have influenced her empathy approach to communicating about issues of international significance. Curry did not have the opportunity to be a student at a particular school in the cities of San Diego, Alameda Oregon or Virginia over the course of two years, due to her family relocated frequently. Ashland was her last high school. Her first job would lead to a lucrative career by working as an intern in broadcasting for KTVL Channel 10 Medford. It was her first time as a female news anchor at this station at the age of 22. Later, she moved into the post of anchor and reporter at KGW an NBC affiliate in Portland, Oregan. Then she returned to Los Angeles four years later working as a journalist at KCBS TV. During her six-year association with the channel she was awarded 2 Emmy Awards.
